Laura began visiting Nantucket around 15 years ago, and was immediately taken by the beauty of the island, the friendly people and the creativity that permeated throughout. One year when Laura was volunteering for the Nantucket Film Festival, she snuck a look into the most beautiful wedding reception. She knew then she wanted to get married on Nantucket someday; she just needed to find the groom!
Laura and Scott met in New York City where they worked six blocks away from each other. Their first date was at at a local Mexican restaurant on April Fool’s Day. The joke, they discovered on that first night, was that it turns out they had spent most of their 20's going to the same places, yet it took the dating app, Happn, to finally bring them together. That first date quickly turned into a second and third, and Laura and Scott soon realized that they had found the person they were meant to spend their life with.
During the time they were dating, Laura brought Scott to Nantucket. Scott said that once he stepped off the ferry, he "got it." right away. He was as taken with the island as he was with his future bride.
Once Scott popped the question, they took a trip up to find a venue and they both quickly agreed that Westmoor Farm was the ultimate wedding location. It was unlike any venue on island, and gave off the warm, cozy vibe that meshed perfectly with the intimate wedding they were planning.
On the Big Day, the crew from RJ Miller Salon came and did the hair and makeup for the girls. Laura wore a Kelly Faetanini dress with a Sarah Gabriel belt and veil from Gabriella Bridal in NYC.
The weekend was catered by the Nantucket Catering Company, with Mark and Eithne serving up a fantastic clam bake with lobster for the rehearsal dinner and a five course dinner for the wedding. The flowers were done by Soiree Floral, with rentals by Placesetters. All custom signs were done by Jenny C Designs. The dessert bar, cake and the donuts were provided by Kelley Badger of Cake Nantucket. Music was provided by Nantucket DJ productions which set the tone for dinner and got the crowd on the dance floor afterward. This was all tied together by event planner extraordinaire, Caroline Ott, who has recently set up shop as Milly & Grace Weddings.
At the end of the evening, Laura and Scott were sent on their way through a sea of sparklers where they hopped into the Wauwinet's "Woody." Guests then took their donuts and coffee back with them via a fun party bus from Nantucket Sleigh Ride.
